Market review: October 5–11, 2026. China’s domestic market was closed for the National Day holiday from October 5–7, so its first post-holiday trading observations came on October 8. Figures below keep China A00 and LME benchmarks separate; no currency conversion has been applied.
Fact — China A00: Changjiang Nonferrous’ A00 spot average was RMB 23,760 per metric tonne on October 8 and RMB 23,660/t on October 9. The October 9 figure was RMB 100/t lower than the previous day. CCMN’s October 9 weekly summary reported a two-trading-day average of RMB 23,710/t and noted that the domestic market had been closed October 5–7. It compared the October 9 price with the last pre-holiday trading day, September 30, when A00 stood at RMB 24,030/t.
Fact — LME: The LME Aluminium Cash-Settlement price, in US dollars per tonne, was $3,107.00 on October 5, $3,134.50 on October 6, $3,102.50 on October 7, $3,060.50 on October 8 and $3,055.50 on October 9. That is a $51.50/t decrease from October 5 to October 9, or about 1.66%. This is the cash-settlement series; it is not the LME three-month price.
Date | China A00 spot average (RMB/t) | LME cash settlement (USD/t) |
|---|---|---|
October 5 | China market closed | 3,107.00 |
October 6 | China market closed | 3,134.50 |
October 7 | China market closed | 3,102.50 |
October 8 | 23,760 | 3,060.50 |
October 9 | 23,660 | 3,055.50 |
Analysis: The post-holiday A00 quote and the LME cash series each moved lower across their available comparison periods, but they should not be treated as interchangeable or directly compared as if they share a price basis. A00 is a domestic Chinese spot benchmark in RMB/t; LME cash settlement is a global reference in USD/t. The holiday also means the Chinese series has only two observations within this review window. Neither benchmark alone determines an export offer for coated coil, which also depends on alloy, thickness, coating system, order size, conversion costs, packing, freight and the quotation’s validity period.
Follow-up: When refreshing offers, record the benchmark, currency, date and chosen pricing reference explicitly. For a firm quotation, state how long the metal component remains valid and whether later price changes affect only unconfirmed orders. Buyers comparing quotes should also align alloy, temper, dimensions and coating requirements; Senruida’s pre-painted aluminum coil and sheet range provides a starting point for reviewing product formats and specifications.
Fact — Europe: In its October 8 assessment, Drewry reported that the World Container Index fell 2% to $4,351 per 40-foot container. On the Shanghai–Rotterdam lane, the index fell 2% to $3,337 per 40-foot container; Shanghai–Genoa was unchanged at $3,696. Drewry attributed weaker rates to softer business during China’s Golden Week. These are index assessments, not guaranteed carrier offers for a specific booking.
Fact — Middle East: Maersk’s operational update, dated October 8, listed booking suspensions, alternative routings and restrictions across parts of the Gulf network. For certain cargo loading from or destined for ports in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia’s Dammam and Jubail, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE and Oman other than Salalah, the update listed emergency freight of $1,800 per 20-foot dry container or $3,000 per 40-foot dry container. It also listed an additional $1,000 per container for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The same advisory described congestion and limited berthing availability at Khor Fakkan, with possible changes to final port and extra handling or inland costs.
Analysis: The Europe index moved down during the holiday lull, while a shipment to some Gulf destinations may face significant route-specific charges and schedule uncertainty. These signals point in different directions: the broad Europe index does not imply that all lanes or service types are cheaper, and a Middle East surcharge should not be applied to every destination without checking its scope. Wide or heavy coil orders may also require confirmation of container suitability, loading plans and inland handling before a delivered price is finalized. Senruida’s ultra-wide coated aluminum coil information is relevant when discussing unusually wide material and shipment planning.
Follow-up: For each live inquiry, request a current carrier quote that identifies origin, destination, equipment, routing, surcharge validity, free time and expected transit. For Gulf shipments, confirm whether the booking is accepted for the cargo type and final destination under the latest advisory. Recheck the rate before the offer expires; a weekly index cannot replace a shipment-specific booking confirmation.
No new, verifiable Europe or Middle East construction award with a disclosed coated-aluminum roofing or façade scope was identified in the sources reviewed for October 5–11. That is not evidence that regional demand has stopped; it means there is no project-specific development here that can responsibly be used to support a sales forecast or a claim of new demand.
Likewise, the reviewed sources did not establish a new aluminum smelter outage or restart during this period that would justify changing a supply assumption. Avoid using unverified production or geopolitical claims to explain a price move. For project prospecting, prioritize tenders and contractor announcements that name the building, location, package status and relevant envelope materials. Senruida’s roofing and cladding applications can help frame a conversation around the intended building use, while project-specific alloy, coating and forming requirements still need to be confirmed.
Keep China A00 and LME cash settlement in separate columns and currencies; do not draw a converted comparison without stating the FX source, date and method.
Use the October 8–9 A00 observations as post-holiday reference points, not as a full five-day China trading week.
Refresh Europe freight by lane and equipment, and check Gulf bookings against the carrier’s latest route and surcharge advisory.
Ask project leads for confirmed tender or award details before treating a regional project as addressable coated-coil demand.
For buyers, the practical signal this week is that benchmark metal eased modestly while freight conditions remained lane-dependent, with much sharper operational and cost risks on specified Gulf routings. A defensible offer should show its metal reference and freight assumptions separately, then be updated when the customer’s destination, specification and booking window are firm.
